TURKISH DIPLOMAT: THE MILITARY OPERATION IN SINJAR WAS CARRIED OUT IN COLLABORATION WITH AL-KAZEMI

Yesterday, in a phone call with Mr Hakan Karajay, the Turkish Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, we had a detailed conversation about the latest developments in northern Iraq, which he said, "Turkey continues to protect its people and lands against terrorist attacks that are carried out from the lands of our neighboring countries in accordance with the international laws. Turkey denies the existence of any problem with the Kurds, but rather with the parties that launch terrorist attacks against it."
Regarding the details of the Turkish military operation in Sinjar district, on August 16 and 17, Karacay added that the Turkish forces performed the operation based upon accurate intelligence information and prior coordination with the Iraqi side.
With respect to the obtained precise intelligence information in a neighboring country, the Turkish Consul General said that “Iraq and Turkey have good relations, and the authorities of the two countries are keen to respect international law. The Head of Turkey's National Intelligence Organization, Hakan Fidan, and the Iraqi prime minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, were former colleagues and they are also perceptive to respect the principle of good neighborliness. The good relations between Mustafa Al-Kazemi and Hakan Fidan helped us a lot in the implementation of various military operations in northern Iraq, particularly the recent successful joint military operation in Sinjar.”
On August 16, Turkish drones targeted a car in the center of Sinjar, leading to the murder of Saeed Hassan Saeed, one of the leaders of Popular Mobilization Forces, as well as two of his companions, and injuring two other leaders. According to the sources, the two wounded were taken to a military hospital belonging to the 80th Regiment of the Popular Mobilization; On the following day, August 17, Turkish drones targeted the aforementioned hospital again, killing the other two wounded leaders.
The two operations indicate that the Turkish forces had accurate information about the location of the leaders, especially after their car was bombed in Sinjar. Undoubtedly, obtaining such information requires coordination between senior security figures of the two countries.
The strength of the Turkish security and military forces in ensuring the security of the country and the suppression of terrorist groups out of the country borders deserves praise, and this process must be continued more progressively.
